HARRISON BRYAN is an award-winning playwright, actor, librettist, producer, and puppeteer. A proud member of The Dramatists Guild of America and The Alliance of Jewish Theatre; a current writer in the TheatreMacher Fellowship and artist in residence at "Windridge Farm," Harrison is a Two-Time Awarded Finalist at NYC’s Steven Sondheim's “Write-A-Play Festival” and a “Helen Hayes Award” nominated performing-artist. Recipient of the 2019 “New York Innovative Theatre Award,” his writing has been featured, produced, read, and workshopped at The Cherry Lane Theatre, MCC's "FreshPlay Festival", Broadway Comedy Club, The BMI Advanced Writer’s Workshop, FringeNYC, The Flea, Playthings Theatre Co., The Irish Rep, City Vineyard NYC, The Rude Mechanicals, Ugly Rhino, The Kraine, Open Hydrant, The Players Theatre, [“SPF” WINNER], The Nuyorican, Dixon Place, People’s Improv Theatre, The Dramatist Guild Fund's Music Hall, Brunch Theatre, West of 10th, Lucky Jacks, Pete's Candy Store, NYU, UMKC, and Boston University. His new musical, "A Hanukkah Carol, or GELT TRIP! The Musical" received an honorary mention from The American Playwriting Foundation's "Relentless Award for Musical Theatre" committee, and recently won the "Audience's Choice Award" at Open Jar Studio's "Broadway Shark Tank." A special industry presentation directed by Marlo Hunter ("2022 Woman To Watch On Broadway"), took place last December, along with a (sold out!) concert at The Green Room 42.  Recently, his play, "[ WORLD WAR <3 ]," received a special reading Off-Broadway at THE CHERRY LANE THEATRE, as part of their Tuesday TONGUES Reading Series. His play, STILL NOT, was produced as part of the New York International FRINGE Festival, receiving online publication with INDIE THEATRE NOW's "FringeNYC 2016 Collection". In 2020, "THE RUDE MECHANICALS" - Eastern WA's Premiere Shakespeare Theatre Company, produced his short play, "In Fair Corona," as part of a Virtual New Play Initiative. In 2014, his short play, "Ophelia Later," was a Finalist for Off-Broadway's Red Bull Theatre's New Short Play Festival. In 2017, "Romeo's Jules," was selected and performed at The Players Theatre Short Play Festival, WINNING the "Best Of Week" Award. With a strong belief in the value of education, training, and theatre-arts practice, Harrison has worked and trained with clowning master, Christopher Bayes (Yale School of Drama), puppet guru, Jim Kroupa (Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center), mixed-media innovator Jared Mezzocchi ("The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time"), and mentoring playwrights Lauren Gunderson ("Peter Pan and Wendy") and Lydia Diamond & Kirsten Greenidge (Boston University). Also, studied at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, New York Stage & Film, and Double-Edge Theatre Co. Brooklyn-born and raised, with a BFA from Boston University, he served as a Writer/Actor for 5 years with “FACES, Theatre Network for Teens,” using playwriting and improvisation to promote tolerance, peace, and anti-bullying.
